My person
I grew up in the French speaking vineyard town of Cormondrèche. Having a German father, we speak French and German in our family. 1999: I spent one year abroad in the US enlarging my circle of family (met my current girlfriend Sandra) and went to college. 2000: I started my medical studies in Neuchâtel, which are a prerequisite for dental school. 2003: I specialized in the dental studies in Bern. 2006: I graduated as a dentist.
Now I am working as a dentist in Peseux, close to my home town Cormondrèche. Unfortunately the heavy loaded orienteering schedule doesn’t allow me to work much, but I try to work at least so much that I can keep in contact with my profession.
My environment
My family and my partner Sandra constitute the core of my social environment.
The dentistry clinic where I work allows me to have a very free schedule. I can plan the days and hours I want to treat patients. I greatly appreciate these outstanding working conditions. Although, until now, I always end up working more than I plan to... I understand now, why people say that work experience is so important.
My home clubs are ANCO (Switzerland) and Vehkaladen Veikot (Finland) ...best clubs ever!
My personal coach for many years now is Christian Aebersold. As a former world class orienteer (3 times World Champion in Relay in the 90s), a experienced runner (won several Swiss Championships from Half Marathon to Mountain Running) and a medical doctor (visit him) he has the perfect knowledge to coach me. More important than his qualification is his good understanding of my person to guide me in critical moments.
Besides Christians coaching, I enjoy the generous help from Louis Heyer in planning my training. He is a track and field top coach.
Last but not least, a great part of my sport but also social environment is the Swiss National orienteering team. Being the 2nd oldest says everything about the youth of our team. We are a fresh, dynamic, honest and professional group of athletes. The coaching is remarkable, Matthias Niggli (head coach), Thomas Bührer (men’s coach) and Kilian Imhof (women’s coach) always surprise me with there seek for excellence.
Having such a great environment makes being an elite sportsman easy. Thanks to all!!!
